Alice Mae Sayre, age 95, of Washington, PA., formerly of Claysville, PA., died Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Donnell House in Washington.
Born July 23, 1930, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Fulton and Helen Cain.
She resided in the Clarion County and Monroeville areas prior to moving to Claysville. Alice Mae was a 1948 graduate of Westinghouse High School. During high school until her marriage, she worked for the Gulf Oil Company in Pittsburgh. She enjoyed ceramic painting and scrapbooking. Her love of music, husband and family was ever present in her life.
On February 21, 1952, she married Giard M Sayre, her husband for 67 years. Surviving her are 7 children, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson: Linda (Robert) Miller - sons Patrick (Ju-Yeon), Lillian, Logan, Lorna, Lenore Miller, and Michael Miller; Debby Clutter - daughter Rachele and son Matthew Clutter; Barb (Doug) May - daughters Erika (Jeremy), Avri, Abbi, Audri Dressback; Sondra (Jacob) Stone daughter Maya Fatigati; Kathy (David) Johnson - daughter Jennifer (Andy) Ava Chumney, son Christian (Madison), Miles Johnson; son Danny, Alexandria and Wyatt Johnson; daughter Rebekah (Mike) Erlinger, and Braylee Erlinger; Marten (Sheree) - son Andy Sayre; Peggy Teagarden - sons Jay (Janine), Jason and Jonah Teagarden; Joe (Marla) Teagarden; Nancy (Clyde) Thompson; A niece Susan (Michael) Robb and family and a nephew Jeffrey Sayre, residing in Florida.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Giard M Sayre, her parents Fulton and Helen Cain, her sister Margaret Jane Cain, grandchildren Chelsey Powleski and Zachery Riggle, son in laws Richard Clutter and Mike Teagarden and brother-in-law John and wife Barbara from Florida.
At the request of Alice, there will be no public visitation. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service at Claysville United Methodist Church 1257 Route 40 West Claysville, PA 15323 on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Sue Petritis, officiating. A private burial will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
