Aldene Polen

Aldene H. Polen, 84, of Wind Ridge, Pa., died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa.She was born June 3, 1922 in Richhill Twp., (Sugar Grove), Greene Co., Pa a daughter of Robert Burns "Buster" Houston, Sr. and Charlotte Fern Hughes Houston and had resided in Wind Ridge and Richhill Twp. most of her life.Mrs. Polen was a 1941 graduate of Richhill Twp. High School and a member of Wind Ridge Christian Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a charter member of the Richhill Twp. V.F.D. Auxiliary.She enjoyed gardening, reading and collecting angels.Mrs. Polen was last employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Wind Ridge, Pa. for over 40 years as a clerk and substitute route carrier prior to retiring.On July 23, 1943, she married Wilbur Dale "Shorty" Polen who died December 31, 1972.Surviving are a son, Scott, husband of Cathy Polen of Wind Ridge; four grandchildren, Christina Dawn Bradley, Tamara Dale Donahue, Jeremy Scott and Nathan Randal Polen; two great grandchildren, Zachary and Hannah Bradley.Deceased in addition to her husband are one son, Robert Dale Polen who died December 8, 2001; one sister, Betty Mayme Houston; three brothers, Theodore, Joseph Patrick Houston and Robert Burns Houston, Jr. She was the last of her immediate family.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wind Ridge Christian Church c/o Jim Wilson 283 Harvey Hill Road, Graysville, Pa. 15337.
