Wylie F. Cheek, Sr. 73, of Wind Ridge, Pa. died at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. after being in failing health for the past several years.He was born November 3, 1932 in Richhill Twp. (Crabapple), Greene Co. Pa. a son of Price Albert and Nellie Berle Chedester Cheek and resided in Graysville for several years prior to moving to Aleppo Twp. in 1970.Mr. Cheek was a member of the Enon Baptist Church.He was a caring and active member of his community and enjoyed his time coaching adult softball, Little League baseball and football and also was an avid collector of 1970's Steelers memorabilia, and enjoyed watching hummingbirds, raising horses and coon hunting.Mr. Cheek was self employed in firewood sales most of his life, and from 1958 - 1978 owned and operated a milk route for Carnation and United Dairy, from 1962- 1970 was employed as the foreman of the former Charles Carpenter farm in Graysville, operated the Holbrook Service Station from 1976-1980, was employed by the former James Crupe Sawmill, and had served as a state constable for over 20 years, and was a former security guard at Ryerson Station State Park, and was last employed as the head of security by the West Greene School District from 1972 until retiring in 2000.On November 3, 1952 he married E. Loretta Cunningham who survives.Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Richard (Candy) Cheek and Wylie F. (Terry) Cheek, Jr. all of Wind Ridge; four daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Blouir of Holbrook, Dee (Tink) Eisiminger of Prosperity, Jackie (Chuck) Stoneking of Holbrook and Lori (James) Cowie of Greensboro; two brothers, Price A. (Sandy) Cheek, Jr. of Waynesburg and Charles C. (Sandy) Cheek of Goshen, IN.; three sisters, June (Robert) Elliott of Waynesburg, Millis (Midge) (Harold) Bowers of Graysville and Aldine Whyte of West Finley; 19 Grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Deceased are a daughter, Wyletta Stewart; a granddaughter, Kalah Cheek; a brother, Roy E. Cheek; three sisters, E. Ruth Tennant, Marie Briggs and Louise Tennant.
