Wilma F. Nelson Sligar, 91, of Center Twp. (Rutan) Greene Co. Pa. died unexpectedly at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in the Ewing Manor-West Personal Care Home in Rogersville, Pa.She was born July 25, 1920 in Center Twp.(Rutan), a daughter of the late Charles Lee and Mary Grace Rush Lewis and has been a resident of Center Twp. all her life.Mrs. Sligar was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church where she formerly served as secretary for the church board of directors and was a member of the United Methodist Women of the church.She was a1938 graduate of the former Center Twp. High School in Rogersville.Mrs. Sligar was last employed by the former Mac's Hardware in Waynesburg for 24 years prior to retiring in 1980.She assisted her late husband George with operating Option Woodworking in Rutan for 20 years prior to closing the shop in 2000.Mrs. Sligar enjoyed traveling the world, puzzles, reading, doing yard work and bird watching as long as her health permitted.Her first husband, Karl V. (K-Ball) Nelson died April 29, 1955 and on February 1, 1980 she married George Thomas Sligar, Sr. who died November 19, 2009.Surviving are three sons, Karl Lloyd, husband of Tina Nelson of Pawleys Island, S. Carolina, William Ronald, husband of Kay Nelson of Shippensburg, Pa. and Charles Roger, husband of Wilma Nelson of Center Twp., a daughter, Peggy L., wife of John Labrum of Corona, CA.; three step children, George T. Sligar, Jr. of Center Twp., Edward, husband of Marilyn Sligar of Pittsburgh and Nancy Ann, wife of Robert Dierken of Sarasota, FL.; 22 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her parents and husbands are three sisters, Goldie Henderson, Evelyn Roupe and Dorothy Johnston; a brother, Earl Lewis; and a sister and brother who died in infancy.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Fairview United Methodist Church, 331 Poland Run Rd., Graysville, Pa. 15337.
