Wilma F. Ackley Beabout, 98, of Wheeling, W.VA. and formerly of Greene Co. Pa. died Sunday, April 26, 2009 in Peterson Rehab and Geriatrics, Wheeling, W.VA.She was born October 26, 1910 in Richhill Twp. Greene Co. Pa. a daughter of Forrest Samuel and Cora Alice Smith Ackley and had resided in Time (Morris Twp. Greene Co.) from 1937 until moving to the Wheeling (Bethlehem) area in 1964.Mrs. Beabout was a 1931 graduate of Richhill Twp. High School.She was a member of the New Life Methodist Church in Wheeling where she was a member of the Women's Society of the church.Mrs. Beabout and her late husband owned and operated the Beabout General Store and gas station in Time for several years prior to closing the business in the middle 1950's, and was last employed in the dietary department at Ohio Valley Medical Center (Wheeling) for approximately 10 years prior to retiring in 1974.She enjoyed quilting as long as her health permitted, especially making baby quilts, which she did until 1995, and was a former member of the Union Valley Sewing Circle and the Mt. Olivet Sewing Circle and enjoyed playing 500 rummy. Mrs. Beabout was also a former member of the Hilltoppers Senior Citizens and the Bethlehem V.F.D. Auxiliary.On August 8, 1937 she married Arthur Franklin Beabout who died April 27, 1986.Surviving is a son, Roger Lynn, husband of Annnet Beabout with whom she has shared her home since 1985; two brothers, Raymond E. Ackley of Greenville, Pa. and Wayne W. Ackley of Upper Marlboro, MD; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are three sisters, Lillie Marie Ackley who died in infancy, Lorena A. Horne, and Marybelle Ackley; two brothers, Howard and Allen Ackley; a foster brother, John Salsberry.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the New Life Methodist Church, 115 South Broadway St., Wheeling, W.Va. 26003, or your local American Cancer Society.
