William Orndoff

William A. Orndoff, 93, of Wichita, Kansas and formerly of Rogersville, Pa. died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003 in his home after being in failing health for the past several months.He was born September 15, 1909 in Youngstown, Ohio a son of W. S. H. (Scott) and Bertha Mae Hawkins Orndoff.Mr. Orndoff had resided in the Center Township and Rogersville areas most of his life prior to moving to Wichita in 1986.He was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church where he was an active volunteer with general maintenance of the church and parsonage.Mr. Orndoff enjoyed wood crafting in general and making grandfather clocks, hunting and was an avid gardener and yard worker.He was a 1927 graduate of Center Township High School.Mr. Orndoff was formerly employed as a station engineer for Columbia Gas Company at the Majorsville station and was last employed in shipping and receiving for Plat Steel Products in Washington prior to his retirement in 1973.On April 8, 1929 he married Ferne Elizabeth Jennings Orndoff who survives.Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Sharon) Huskey of Wichita, Kansas; two grandchildren, John A. Huskey and Rachel Huskey Brew.Deceased is a sister, Grace Eleanor Nash.Mr. Orndoff was the last of his immediate family.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rogersville United Methodist Church, PO Box 315, Rogersville, Pa. 15359.
