William Mcvay

W. Carroll McVay, 75, of Holbrook (Bristoria), Pa. died at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in his home after being seriously ill since August.He was born July 28, 1936 in Aleppo Twp. Greene Co. Pa. a son of the late Rex and Irene Marie Morgan McVay and had resided in Jackson Twp. for the past 49 years.Mr. McVay was a former member of the Aleppo Brethren Church.He was a member of the Cameron (W.Va.) American Legion Post 18 and the Warrior Trail Assoc.Mr. McVay was a 1954 graduate of the former Center Twp. High School in Rogersville.He was veteran of the US Army Reserve, Co. C., 429th Engineer Construction Battalion in Waynesburg serving as a Spec 5 and was with the unit when they were called to active duty during the Cuban Missal Crisis in 1961.He was a former laborer on pipeline construction and was last employed by Columbia Gas in Cameron, W.Va. for 34 years prior to retiring in 1993.On September 19, 1959 he married Frances M. "Mick" Henderson who survives.Also surviving are a daughter, Lisa, wife of David Hook of Mt. Morris; a sister, Karen, wife of Edwin Haines of Moundsville, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews.Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. Private funeral and interment services will be held at the convenience of the family.
