William Kern

William F. Kern, 94, of Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin and formerly of Greene Co. Pa. died Friday, January 1, 2010 in his home.He was born March 19, 1915 in Greene Co. (Woodruff), Pa. a son of the late Samuel Newton and Louise Chess Kern and has been a resident of Wisconsin (Whitewater) and (Ft. Atkinson) since 1956.Mr. Kern was last employed as a spinner by the former Thomas Industries (Moe Light) in Ft. Atkinson prior to retiring in 1977.He was married to Mary E. Batison who died Jan. 4, 1943, and later married to Julia Ann Strope who died June 3, 1984 and on May 29, 1987 he married Karen Helene Field who survives.Also surviving are one son, William, husband of Dallace Kern of Apopka, Fl.; two daughters, Barbara, wife of Terry Harrington of Whitewater, WI. and Rosalee, wife of David Carey of Ft. Atkinson, WI.; eight grandchildren, Jeff Harrington, Patti Miller, Lori Draffkorn, Joe and Rob Kern, Mary Gabel, Dan and Michelle Carey; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Charles Kern of Missouri; one sister, Alice Miller of Claysville, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his parents and first and second wife are a sister, Annabelle Anderson; four brothers, Arthur, LeRoy, Leslie and David Kern.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to your local hospice foundation.
