William Hixenbaugh

William A. Hixenbaugh, 68, of Claysville, Pa. died Thursday, December 16, 2004 in his home after being in failing health for the past five years. He was borm January 16, 1936 in Washington, Pa. a son of Lester Vaughn and Mary Catherine Gromo Hixenbaugh and had resided in Ohio as a young child and had resided in the Claysville area since his pre-teen years. Mr. Hixenbaugh was a member and former trustee of the Claysville United Methodist Church and was a 1954 graduate of Claysville High School.He enjoyed the outdoors, wood working, steam engine shows, and the time spent with his family and was a practical joker.Mr. Hixenbaugh was formerly employed by Plasteel, Hazel Atlas, Penns Oil, Jessop Steel Corp and was last employed by the former Wheeling Machine Co. of Elm Grove, W.Va. as a heat treater. He was also a self-employed carpenter as long as his health permitted in the Claysville and Washington areas. On May 30, 1957 he married Carolyn Kay Gilbert Hixenbaugh who survives.Also surviving are three daughters, Nancy, wife of Charles Yanniello of Waynesburg, Pa., Cheryl, wife of James Wilson of Claysville, and Debbie Hixenbaugh and her companion Vernon "Buzz" Stevens of Washington, Pa.; one grandson, James Wilson II; one granddaughter, Megan Wilson; several step grandchildren; one brother, Vaughn, husband of Kathryn Closser Hixenbaugh of Avella, Pa.; one sister, Jean, wife of William Gibson of Claysville; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents is one brother who died in infancy.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
