Allison Cross, 97, of Waynesburg, Pa. died at 7:28 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in the Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, after being in failing health since April.He was born November 14, 1915 in Wana, W.Va. a son of the late George Henry and Emza Jane Cummins Cross.Mr. Cross had resided in W.Va. most of his life, and had wintered in Florida from 1985 until 1992, prior to moving to Waynesburg in December 2005, and had made his home with his son William Cross in Rogersville since January 2012.He was a member of the First Assembly of God, Eastview and was a 1935 graduate of Wadestown (W.Va.) High School.Mr. Cross had farmed for several years in W.Va. raising beef cattle and was last employed as a truck driver for 36 years, with the W.Va. Dept. of Highways in the Pentress and Saberton prior to retiring in 1980.He enjoyed listening to gospel quartets, playing the card game of skip-bo and a domino game called turkeyfoot.On November 14, 1940 he married Geraldine Renner who survives.Also surviving are two sons, William, husband of Gwen Cross of Rogersville and Rick, husband of Kathy Cross of Waynesburg; a daughter, Deborah Lynn, wife of Robert Brookover of Pentress, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to his parents is a daughter, Carolyn Jane Thomas, who died in 1992.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Assembly of God Church, Eastview, 4131 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
