Walter Snyder

Walter Matthew Snyder, 64, of Claysville, Pa. and formerly of Arlington, Va. died at 4:00 a.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010 in the HJ Heinz III Progressive Care Center (VAMC #646-Aspinwall) Pittsburgh, Pa. from a cancer related illness.He was born November 2, 1946 in Camden, NJ a son of the late John George and Lillian Jane O'Connor Snyder.Mr. Snyder had resided in Clay Center, Kansas where he graduated from Clay Center High School and later earned a degree in engineering from University of Arizona in Tucson, Az., prior to moving to Arlington and has resided in Claysville since 2003.He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a GMM2 (E-5) during the Viet Nam War.He enjoyed being around horses and his pet cat Bender and dog, Harley and was a member of an on-line model ship building forum.Surviving are his best friend, Joni Lynn Gibson of Claysville; a sister, Ursula Shaw of Jacksonville, Fl.; two nephews, Terrel, husband of Krista Shaw and Steven, husband of Suzanne Shaw both of Jacksonville, Fl; four grandnieces, Madison, Cassidy, Gracie and Ana Shaw; a grandnephew, Benjamin Matthew Shaw.All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
