Virginia Elizabeth Fletcher

Virginia Elizabeth (Moniger) Fletcher, age 89, of Waynesburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016 while under the care of Waynesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born September 12, 1927, in Bristoria, PA, she is the daughter of the late Della Moniger and Melvin Gilbert.

Virginia graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1946. She resided in Waynesburg for over 50 years with her husband. She had a passion for flowers and gardening. Virginia’s hobbies included collecting cracked glass and attending flea markets. Above all, she was an animal lover. She was known to rescue and bottle feed baby raccoons back to health. Her most notable raccoons were Bandit and Rascal. Her three dogs Bambi, Tina and Cricket and two cats Bubbles and Moochi were her beloved pets and companions.

She is survived by her sister Aliff (Jack) Dulaney, of Waynesburg, PA; nephew, Michael (Helene) Dulaney, of Waynesburg, PA; niece, Diane (Chris) McCauley, of Graysville, PA; several other nieces and nephews; special friend, Minnie Mosley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Willard Earl Fletcher, who passed away on November 7, 2015.

Friends will be received from 4-8 P.M. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. Rogersville, PA. where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Walt Stevenson, officiating. Interment to follow in Braddock Cemetery, Graysville, PA.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Virginia’s memory to the Humane Society of Greene County, 183 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, PA. 15370.
