Verena Henderson

Verena Henderson, 84, of New Freeport, Pa. died at 4:40 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2004 in the Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa. after being in failing health for the past year.She was born March 1, 1919 in Monongalia County, W.Va. a daughter of Ray and Laura Keck Hixenbaugh and had resided in the New Freeport area most of her married life.Mrs. Henderson was a member of the New Freeport Church of Christ.She was a 1938 graduate of Daybrook High SchoolMrs. Henderson was a member of the New Freeport V.F.D. auxiliary and enjoyed attending the Senior Citizens Centers in Graysville, Pa. and Hundred, W.Va.On March 9, 1940 she married Wilbur Henderson who died February 17, 1973.Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn A. Hall of St. Mary's, W.Va.; a son, George R. Henderson of Southington, Ohio; a sister, Violet Pido of Blacksville, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Annette Henderson Woofter, Charles and Benjamin Henderson, Mark and Jodi Hall and Kelly Hall Powell; six great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are two brothers, Arthur and Verl Hixenbaugh.
