Vera Reed

Vera I. Reed, 91, of Cameron, W.Va. and formerly of Aleppo Twp., Greene County, Pa. died unexpectedly at 2:15 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012, in her home.She was born April 23, 1921 in Paden City, W.Va. a daughter of the late George Henry and Lura Junkins Baker and had resided in Aleppo Twp. for several years prior to moving to Cameron in 2006.Mrs. Reed was a member of the Cameron Church of Christ.She was an avid reader and had recorded every book that she read in her adult life and enjoyed camping and the time she was able to spend with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Mrs. Reed was a former employee of the Paden City Pottery and was last employed as a teacher aide with the Greene County (Pa.) Head Start program.On April 6, 1946 she married Gordon Gail Reed who died May 7, 1999.Surviving are two daughters, Linda I., wife of Joseph Butt of Beallsville, MD. and Judy A. Porter of Cameron; five grandchildren, Scot Fulks, Jessica Gilbert Rindeikis, Sarah Gilbert Coleman, Benjamin Gilbert and Julie Butt; five great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are two sisters, Thelma Eddy and Mildred Tuttle; two brothers, Lester Joseph and Chalmer Baker.She was the last of her immediate family.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cameron Baptist Church, 62 Squirrel Ally Lane, Cameron, W.Va., 26033 or the Poolesville Presbyterian Church, PO Box 68 Poolesville, MD. 20837
