Vance L. Dorsey, 70, of East Finley Twp., Washington Co., Pa died at 11:10 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2007 in his home.He was born September 28, 1936 in East Finley Twp., a son of Carl Hird and Alva Irene Sprowls Dorsey and had resided in East Finley Twp. all of his life.Mr. Dorsey was a 1955 graduate of Claysville High School and was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church.He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a PFC with the Hq Co 1st BG 8th Cav APO 24 and was a member of the Claysville American Legion Post #639.Mr. Dorsey was a member of the Market Livestock Committee of the West Alexander Fair and a former member of the Washington County Wool Growers Association and enjoyed farming and raising livestock as long as his health permitted.He was an original member of the Washington County Transportation Authority and was instrumental in establishing the zoning commission in East Finley Twp and the East Finley Twp. picnic which was held from 1976 to 2000.Mr. Dorsey was last employed as a Road Supervisor and Foreman for East Finley Township for 33 years prior to retiring in January 2001.On August 16, 1963, he married Solena Ruth Bedillion Dorsey who survives.Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Jamie, husband of Christie Dorsey and Scott, husband of Susanne Dorsey, all of East Finley Twp., a daughter, Jill Hodgens of Morris Twp., Washington Co.; five grandchildren, Chelsea Hamilton, Levi Hodgens, Brooke, Noah and Trent Dorsey; two brothers, Ralph, husband of Wilma Dorsey of Graysville and Blaine, husband of Dolly Dorsey of Punxsutawney; three sisters, Hazel Hillberry and Maxine Reynolds, both of Claysville, and Lucille Bedillion of Waynesburg. Deceased are a grandson, Derek Alan Dorsey; five brothers, Gaylord, Paul, Leo and Floyd Dorsey and a brother, Earl Dorsey who died in infancy.
