Thomas W. (Tom) Harris, 50, of Waynesburg, Pa. died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2006 in the WVU Hospitals, Inc. (Ruby Memorial Hospital), Morgantown, W.VA. after being in failing health for the past four years.He was born March 10, 1956 in Beaver Falls, Pa. a son of George Elwood and Virginia Bell (Mert) Weber Harris of Beaver Falls and had resided in Rogersville, Pa. for several years prior to moving to Waynesburg in 2003.Mr. Harris was a member of the Spraggs United Methodist Church in Spraggs, Pa.He was a 1975 graduate of Beaver Falls High School.Mr. Harris enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and the time spent with his granddaughter.Mr. Harris was employed most of his working life as a heavy equipment operator formerly employed by Moore Moore Excavating of Spraggs, Chisler Brothers of Pentriss, W.Va., the former Shumaker Construction of Rogersville and was last employed by Higgins Hauling of Waynesburg prior to retiring in 1995 due to ill health.On October 4, 1980 he married Brenda Faye Moore who survives.Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are a son, Thomas J. (Tommy) Harris and his companion Nichole Baker of Waynesburg; a daughter, Katie Lynn (Casey) Cooke of Center Twp.; two brothers, George E. Harris, Jr., and Glenn (Rowena) Harris of Beaver Falls; three sisters, Helen (George) Galbreath, Joan (Jeff) Rylott and Virginia (Brian) Vannoy all of Beaver Falls; a granddaughter, Emily Paige Cooke; several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1131, Fairfax, VA. 22038-1131 or on the web.
