Sonja L. Hamilton, 57, of Waynesburg, R.D. #5, Pa. died at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2005 in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. She was diagnosed with Leukemia in February 2004 and following a brief remission, the illness returned in March 2005 and she has been seriously ill for the past month. Mrs. Hamilton was born March 4, 1948 in Waynesburg a daughter of the late Earl and Ruth Cheek Tennant and had resided in the West Greene area all of her life. She was a 1966 graduate of West Greene High School and attended Waynesburg College and graduated from Greene County Vo-Tech in 1998 with her Licensed Practical Nurse certification. Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the Rogersville Christian Church where she was serving as an adult Sunday school teacher, deaconess and was a member of the church board.She was a former employee of Greene County Memorial Hospital in Waynesburg and the West Greene High School Cafeteria and has been employed by Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Waynesburg as a LPN since October 2000.Mrs. Hamilton enjoyed cross-stitching and reading the Bible daily.On March 12, 1965 she married Richard Earl "Ick" Hamilton who survives.Also surviving are three daughters, Robin, wife of Richard Ketchem of Waynesburg and Shelly A. Amos, companion of Savering "Bear" Demiter of Waynesburg, R.D. #5, and Vicki, wife of William Wilson III of Graysville; four grandsons, Zackary Lee Amos, Joshua Cook, Caleb and Jacob Wilson; one sister, Debra wife of Ronald Kacsmar of Broad Run, Va.; one brother, Donald E., husband of Connie Lewis Tennant of Sycamore, R.D. #1, Pa.; four nieces and one great niece.Deceased in addition to her parents are one granddaughter, Abigail Rachelle Amos and one grandson, Wesley Ryan Amos. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Rogersville Christian Church, c/o 124 Pershing Ave. Waynesburg, Pa. 15370 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Western Pa/ WV Chapter, 2 Gateway Center 13 H, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15222.
