Shirley J. Chambers, 73, of West Finley (Richhill Twp.) Pa. went to be with her Lord at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Kindred Hospital-Northside, Pittsburgh, Pa. following a lengthy illness.She was born March 14, 1936 in Morris Twp. Washington Co. Pa. a daughter of the late Thomas Leroy Hixenbaugh, Sr. and Blanche Sayre Hixenbaugh.Mrs. Chambers was a member of the Harmony Presbyterian Church in Wind Ridge where she was serving as a deacon and choir member at the time of her death.She enjoyed listening to country music, flower gardening and the idea and meaning of motherhood.Mrs. Chambers was an employee of the former Curry Home in Waynesburg, the Hillsview Nursing Home in Claysville and was last employed as an in-home caregiver for several area families prior to her retirement in 2005.On October 3, 1953 she married Glenn Eugene Chambers who survives.Also surviving are two daughters, Debra A. Whitlatch of Graysville and Kim Harding, wife of Larry Taylor of Greensboro; four sons, Thomas, husband of Shelly Chambers of Hubert, N. C., Robert E. Chambers and Harry, husband of Bobbi J. Chambers both of Wind Ridge and Kevin Lee Chambers at home; 15 grandchildren, Michelle Weight, Teresa Hunt, Nicole Mason, Maggie Shaw, Amanda and Krista Chambers, Daniel Whitlatch, James and Jeremy Patterson, Jason, Ryan and Tommy Chambers, , Cody and Austin Barnhart, Chris Whitlach; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie, wife of William Shape of Prosperity and Daisy Wolf of Beaver Falls; two brothers, Kenneth "Duke", husband of Inez Hixenbaugh of Claysville and George Edward, husband of Terri Knight of Beaver Falls. Deceased in addition to her parents is a son, Charles Richard Chambers who died as a toddler; three sisters, Dorothy Jane Crow, Loretta Mae "Bets" Clutter and Joann Louise Frances Long; three brothers, Robert James "Hix" Hixenbaugh, Donald Carter Hixenbaugh and Thomas L. Hixenbaugh, Jr.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to your local American Cancer Society for ovarian cancer research.
