Sherry A. Christopher Thomas, 58, of Center Twp. Greene Co. Pa. died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, October 9, 2011 in her home of a cancer related illness.She was born March 27, 1953 in Washington, Pa. a daughter of the late Floyd Maxwell and June Elizabeth Gregg Ullom and had resided in Jackson Twp. and the Graysville areas prior to moving to Center Twp. in 1997.Mrs. Thomas was a former member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Clarksville and was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church.She was a 1971 graduate of Beth-Center High School and following graduation in 1975 from the former California (Pa.) University earned her masters degree from WVU in Morgantown, W.Va.Mrs. Thomas was a former employee of the Intermediate Unit of Greene Co. and had served as the Principal of the Graysville Elementary School for several years and was last employed by Greene County as the Mental Retardation Director for approximately three years prior to her illness.She was a member of the American Kennel Club, Mountaineer Kennel Club in Morgantown, was a master gardner, enjoyed horses and was a volunteer with the Greene County Genealogical Society.On September 16, 2000 she married Samuel Lloyd Thomas who survives.Also surviving is a daughter, Jennie Christopher of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and a son, Jason Christopher of Washington, Pa.; two step sons, Craig, husband of Melissa Thomas of Waynesburg and Heath, husband of Angie Thomas of Graysville; a brother, Gregg, husband of Sherry Ullom of Ruff Creek; five step grandchildren.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cornerstone Genealogical Society of Greene County, 144 E. Greene St., Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
