Sarah Morris

Sarah Ann Morris, 97, of Jackson Township, Greene County, Pa. died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 18, 2003 in her home after being in failing health for the past six months.She was born May 5, 1906 in Aleppo Township, Greene County, Pa. a daughter of Harry and Hannah Matilda Main Rhome.Mrs. Morris has resided in Aleppo Township and Jackson Township all her life where she was a former member of the Centennial Church of God and had attended the Maranantha Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.She enjoyed the time spent with her family and grandchildren and also enjoyed quilting and baking.On May 12, 1923 she married Stoy Edison "Jack" Morris who died September 13, 1999. They had celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary just prior to his death.Surviving are three daughters, Mildred Temple and Betty M. Weaver both of New Freeport, Pa. R.D.#1 and Mabel Crawford of Holbrook, Pa. R.D.#1; three sons, Harry N., and Herman Morris both of Holbrook, Pa. R.D.#1 and Jack Morris also of Holbrook, Pa. R.D.#1 with whom she shared her home; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one step grandson; three step great grandchildren; four step great great grandchildren. Deceased are one daughter, Vada Lou Pettit who died July 1, 2000; one granddaughter, Donna Jean Crawford who died January 3, 1984; one great grandson, Barry Pettit; seven brothers, George Rhome who died in infancy, James, Walt, Frank, Homer, Charles and William Rhome; seven sisters, Bertha and Martha Rhome who died in infancy, Ora Coss, Pearl Cumberledge, Margarine Stout, Merle Stout, and Opal Rhome.
