Sara Lahew

Sara "June" Lahew, 79 of Waynesburg, formerly of Rogersville, Pa. died at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2002 in Washngton County Hospital, Hagerstown, MD after being in failing health for the past year.She was born March 31, 1923 in Rogersville, a daughter of John Lindsey and Blanche Adamson Grove.Mrs. Lahew had been a resident of Waynesburg for more than 40 years.She was a former member of the Rogresville Christian Church and had been attending the Waynesburg Bible Chapel.Mrs. Lahew was a former member of the Eagles Lodge 598.She was a 1943 graduate of Center Township High School.Mrs. Lahew was an active volunteer with St. Ann Roman Catholic Church soup kitchen and Meals-on-Wheels as long as her health permitted.She was employed as a seamstress at Greenway Manufacturing for 34 years, prior to retiring December 1, 1986.On July 4, 1951 she married Ross Spragg "Doc" Lahew, who died December 11, 1978.Surviving are a son, Ross Lahew of Smithsburg, Md.; two grandchildren, Chay Douglas and Lori Nicole Lahew.Deceased is a brother, John Earl "Nick" Grove who died June 27, 1998.Mrs. Lahew was the last of her immediate family.Interment was held in Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township, Greene County, Pa. on December 13, 2002 with Elder Larry Douglas officiating.
