Biography
S. Wayne Tharp, 75, of Ohioville, Pa., and formerly of Monaca Heights, Pa., died at 12:57 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the Medical Center of Beaver, Beaver, Pa. He was born July 4, 1938 in Waynesburg, Pa., a son of the late Perry Lee and Prissicle (Jenny) Jane Phillips Tharp and lived in Monaca Heights prior to moving to Ohioville in 2006. Mr. Tharp was a 1957 graduate of West Greene High School. He was employed by the former L.T.V. Steel Co., Aliquippa, Pa., for 37 years as a mill wright prior to retiring in 2002. Mr. Tharp enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and doing farm work. On July 1, 1961 he married Donna Fay Riggle who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Allan W., husband of Christina Tharp of Ellwood City, Pa., and James E., husband of Lori Tharp of Ohioville, Pa.; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Valerie, Emily, and Jacob Tharp; and two brothers, Perry A. Tharp of Monaca, Pa., and James H. Tharp of Waynesburg, Pa. Deceased in addition to his parents is three brothers, Sam, Tom, and Ralph Tharp; and three sisters, Olive Galloway, Gertrude King, and Jean Whitlatch. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of funeral service, Saturday, April 12, 2014 in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. with Rev. Vernon K. Berdine officiating.
