Ruth Goodwin

Ruth Ann Mitchell Goodwin, 73, of Center Twp. (Rutan), Greene Co. Pa. died unexpectedly at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. She was born August 9, 1935 in Center Twp. a daughter of the late Thomas Carl (T.C.) and Edna Ruth Keigley Mitchell and had resided in Morris Twp. (Greene Co.) prior to returning to Center Twp. in 1955. Mrs. Goodwin was a member and pianist of the former South Tenmile Baptist Church and was a member of the Community Circle of the church and had been attending the Beulah Baptist Church at Nineveh, Pa. She was a 1953 graduate of Waynesburg High School and a 1956 graduate of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Goodwin was formerly employed as a registered nurse at the Washington Hospital, Jennings Memorial Hospital (Detroit, Michigan) and was last employed by the former Greene County Memorial Hospital in the OBGYN and Nursery departments for approximately 36 years prior to retiring in 1995. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and had a most generous and giving personality. On December 27, 1956 she married Raymond Lee Goodwin who survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are four daughters, Brenda M., wife of Mark Wearne of Des Moines, Iowa, Judith A., wife of Terry Tanner and Sandra L., wife of Ben Brudnock of Center Twp. (Rutan) and Lisa R., wife of David Durbin of Nineveh; one son, David M., husband of Michelle Goodwin of Center Twp. (Rutan); one sister, Brenda Joan Durbin of Graysville; one brother, William L. (Larry), husband of Ella Mitchell of Rogersville; eight grandchildren, Mitchell Wearne, Anna and Patrick Durbin, Nathan and Elizabeth Brudnock, Emily, Brianna and Ali Goodwin; two step grandchildren, Jennifer and Becky Wearne; several nieces and nephews. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to your local library or the charity of your choice.
