Ruth E. Bayless, 77, of West Alexander, Pa. died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006 in her home after a brief illness.She was born January 29, 1929 in Freeport, OH. a daughter of John Cambridge and Ocie Dowler Bardall and had resided in West Alexander since August 1952.Mrs. Bayless was a member of the West Alexander United Methodist Church and a member of the church administration council and United Methodist Women and was awarded Washington and Greene Counties Mother of the Year by the Observer Reporter.She was a 1947 graduate of Freeport (Ohio) High School and a 1950 graduate of the Ohio Valley Medical Center School of Nursing in Wheeling, W.Va.Mrs. Bayless was formerly employed as a registered nurse by the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va. and was last employed by the Peterson Rehabilitation Center in Wheeling prior to retiring in 1993 with 45 years of service. She was awarded Nurse of the Year honors from Peterson Rehabilitation Center prior to retirement.She was a member of the West Alexander American Legion Post 656 Auxiliary, West Alexander Golden Agers and was a member of the Ohio Valley Medical Center Nursing Alumni. Mrs. Bayless enjoyed traveling, helping neighbors in need, time spent with family and grandchildren and camping as long as her health permitted.On September 2, 1950 she married James W. "Bill" Bayless who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Steve, husband of Cheryl Bayless of Washington and Gregg Bayless of Phoenix, Az.; two daughters, Connie, wife of John Rush of Avella, and Deborah Ryan of Burgettstown; one sister, Clara Stine; four brothers, Newt Bardall, Elmer husband of Ruth Bardall, John Bardall, and Thomas, husband of Marge Bardall all of Freeport, OH.; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren. Deceased are her brother, Dowler "Pete" Bardall The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of one's choice or to the West Alexander United Methodist Church 162 Main St., West Alexander, Pa. 15376
