Russell Vaughn Sprowls

Russell V. Sprowls, 63, of Claysville, Pa. died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 in the UPMC-Montifiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. after being in failing health for the past several years.
He was born June 4, 1952 in Wheeling, W.Va. a son of the late Vaughn Dare Flim Sprowls, Jr. and Vera Mae Dutch Thornburg Sprowls and had been a resident of the Claysville area all his life.
Mr. Sprowls was a member of the Claysville United Methodist Church and was a 1970 graduate of McGuffey High School.
He was an experienced welder, and was an employee of the former Brockway Glass Factory and was last employed by the former Findley Clay, both in Washington.
Mr. Sprowls enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and also enjoyed hunting as long as his health permitted.
Surviving are three sisters, Vicki, wife of Cecil Clark of Claysville, Patti, wife of Gary Gildow of Willow Springs, N. Carolina and Sheryl, wife of Gary Janovich of Washington; seven nieces, Tammy Lindley, Tabatha Cumer, Trudy Clark, Jennifer Wise, Carrie Vinski, Erica Gilmore and Jessica Nordberg; several great nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family there will be no public visitation or funeral services. All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests donations be made to your charity of choice.
