Russell Hodgson

Russell E. Hodgson, 89, of New Freeport, formerly of Wheeling, W.Va. died unexpectedly at 12:59 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007 in the home of his daughter.He was born September 8, 1918 in Clarksburg, W.Va. a son of John and Hallie Fortney Hodgson and had resided in Wheeling, W.Va. most of his life prior to moving to New Freeport in May 2007.Mr. Hodgson was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt. 1st class with Co. B, 201st Inf. Alaska Defense Command.He was last employed as a truck driver with Herman Strauss Industries in Wheeling, W.Va. for 38 years prior to retiring in 1966.On June 28, 1966, he married Shelva June Littleton Hodgson of Bridgeport, Oh. who survives.Also surviving are two sons, Russell Edward Hodgson, III of Weirton, W.Va. and Russell Edward Hodgson, Jr., husband of Betty Hodgson of Centersville, Oh.; three daughters, Ruth and Carol Hodgson of St. Clairsville, Oh., and Shelva Marie Hodgson, companion of Roger O'Neil of New Freeport, with whom he shared a home; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren.Deceased are two daughters, Susan Marie Hodgson who died in infancy and Jane Ann Hodgson; one grandson, Bryant Hodgson; two brothers and four sisters.He was the last of his immediate family.
