Obituary for Russell Crawford Sr
Russell Duane Crawford, Sr., 82, of Brave and formerly of Gilmore Twp., (Pine Bank), Pa. died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in the home of his son, Archie Crawford after being in failing health since October 2007. He was born August 25, 1925 in Jackson, Twp., (Delphine), Greene Co., Pa. a son of Jesse Leasure and Fannie Ellen Morris Crawford and had resided in the Pine Bank area from 1980 until making his home with his son in 2005. Mr. Crawford was a member of the former Church of Christ in Kuhntown. He was a former employee of J L Steel in Aliquippa, Crucible Steel and Bush Nursery, both in Pittsburgh and was last employed as a laborer with West View Cemetery Association in Pittsburgh for 21 years prior to retiring in 1976. Mr. Crawford enjoyed woodcrafting and fishing as long as his health permitted. On August 8, 1947 he married Elva Alma Kimble Crawford who died January 17, 1999. Surviving are three sons, Bernard, husband of Karen Crawford of Pine Bank, Archie Newton, husband of Sue Crawford of Brave, and James B. "Jimbo" Crawford of Pittsburgh, one daughter, Kathryn "Kitty", wife of Ronald Kozak Jr. of Avella; one brother, Donald, husband of Mabel Crawford of Pine Bank; one sister, Wilma, wife of Lester Bungard of Holbrook; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his wife are three sons, John J. Crawford who died in 1980, Donald F. Crawford, Sr. who died in 1999, and Russell D. Crawford, Jr. who died in 2003; two grandchildren, Georgia and Lucy Sarann Crawford; two brothers, Franklin "Junior" and William Leasure Crawford, two sisters, Virginia Ann Crawford and Ruby Craig; one half brother, Jesse Lee Crawford; three half sisters, Thelma Bane, Martha Montgomery and May Anderson. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc., Rogersville, Pa. Followed by interment in Rosemont Cemetery, Center Twp., Pa.
