Roy S. Engle, 56, of Center Twp., Greene Co., Pa. died unexpectedly Saturday, July 8, 2006 in his home of natural causes.He was born May 7, 1950 in Uniontown, Pa. a son of the late Arthur Wade and Ethel Hannah Fowler Engle and had resided in Fayette County and Waynesburg prior to moving to Center Twp. in 1980.Mr. Engle was a member of the Willow Grove Baptist Church and the Waynesburg Moose Lodge.He enjoyed woodworking, and had an extensive collection of lighters, old coins and knives.Mr. Engle attended the former Fairchance Georges High School (Albert Gallatin).He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the U.S. Army as a Sp 5 with A Btry, 1st Bn, 14th Inftry and received the National Defense Service Medal, ARCOM, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Commendation Medal with 2 overseas bars and the Marksman Medal (M-14), and was assigned to Co C, 2nd Bn, 110th Inf. of the Army National Guard.Mr. Engle was a former employee of the Fruehoff Co. and Fikes Service Station both in Uniontown, West Penn Tire in Carmichaels, the former Rogersville Service Station and was last employed as a carpenter by the former Cassiday Construction Co. in Rogersville.On December 10, 1981 he married Linda Diane Durbin who survives.Also surviving are three daughters, Tammy (Tim) Cramer of Masontown, Wendy (Chris) Butcher of Waynesburg and Tina (Frank) Kiger of Holbrook; one son, Martin (Sandy) Frodelius of Dilliner; three brothers, Harry Elwood Engle of Uniontown, Arthur W. Engle, Jr. of Smithfield and Samuel Engle of New Jersey; three sisters, Osabee Thomas of Smithfield, Ethel Faye Meade of Uniontown and Michele Layhue of Fairchance; seven grandchildren, Timmy and Tara Cramer, Kimberly Toland, Christa and Courtney Frodelius, Jordan and Aaron Kiger.Deceased in addition to his parents are one brother, Elmer Engle; two sisters, Violet Rose Angelo and Delores Jean Angelo.Graveside military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 330, V.F.W. Post 4793 and the D.A.V. Post 123 all of Waynesburg.
