Roy Milton Clovis, 75, of West Finley, Pa. died at 10:42 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2006 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. after being in failing health for the past two years.He was born August 10, 1930 in West Finley Twp., Washington County, Pa. a son of the late Milton Clovis and Ree Sprowls Karr and had been a resident of West Finley Twp. all his life.Mr. Clovis was a member of Windy Gap Presbyterian Church in West Finley, Pa. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the U.S. Army as a corporal with the Hq Btry 64th FA Bn. Mr. Clovis was a former heavy equipment operator with the Pipeliners and Operating Engineers Local 132 of Wheeling for approximately 22 years and was last employed as a mail carrier in the West Finley and Dallas, W.Va. areas for several years prior to retiring in October 1992, and was a self-employed farmer as long as his health permitted.He was a member of the Claysville Masonic Lodge 447 FAM. Mr. Clovis enjoyed the time spent with his family and grandchildren and raising beef cattle and goats.On December 24, 1969, he married Linda Kay Clayton Ullom Clovis who survives.Surviving in addition to his wife are a stepdaughter, Tracey Dawn Ullom Hartzell, companion of Mike Sprowls of West Finley, Pa.; two-step grandchildren, Kayla Jean and Kyle Ray Hartzell; four special cousins, Heather Whitmire, Robert, Cassie and Chelsea Baker.Deceased in addition to his parents are his stepfather, Kenneth Karr and a stepbrother, Donald Karr.He was the last of his immediate family.Graveside military rites will be accorded by Claysville American Legion Post 639. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shoaf Free Methodist Church, 172 Smiley Rd., Uniontown, Pa. 15401.
