Roland M. Brown, 48, of Waynesburg and formerly of Jackson Twp., Greene Co., Pa. died at 5:00 a.m. Sunday, December 25, 2005 in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.He was born May 18, 1957 in Waynesburg, Pa. a son of Albert John Brown, Sr. and Betty Rogers Brown of R.D. #1 Holbrook and had resided in Holbrook (Jackson Twp.) most of his life prior to moving to Waynesburg in 1990.Mr. Brown was a 1975 graduate of West Greene High School.He was employed as a diesel mechanic by Penn D.O.T. in Washington, Pa. for 23 years prior to retiring in 2005 due to ill health. He had formerly served as Vice President of Local 84, A.F.S.C.M.E. and was a former union steward. Mr. Brown was a youth soccer coach in Waynesburg for over 8 yrs. and a youth soccer referee for the past 5 years, and he had served on the Franklin Twp. Planning Commission for 6 years.He was an avid muzzle loader and bow hunter and was a member of the National Federation of Turkey Hunters and enjoyed researching his family genealogy.On November 18, 1978, he married Pamela Sue Varndell Brown who survives.Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are a daughter, Ms. Terri Michel Brown at home; five brothers, A. John Brown, Jr. of New Freeport, Pa., Gerald Brown of Umatilla, Fl., Charles Brown of Chicora, Pa., Lloyd Brown of Slippery Rock, Pa. and Robert Brown of Holbrook, Pa.; one sister, Betsy Lewis of Hollywood, Fl.; several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia, 555 Grant Street, Suite 425,Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
