Rodney Ross

Rodney F. Ross, 87, of Tavares, Florida, and formerly of Salem, Ohio and Greene County, Pa. died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004 in the Rulene Center Nursing Home in Eustis, Florida.He was born May 12, 1917 in Center Township (Rutan), Greene County, Pa. a son of Frank and Laverta Herrington Ross.Mr. Ross had resided in Salem, Ohio from 1952 until moving to Florida in December of 1979.He was a member of the former Claylick Methodist Church and was a 1935 graduate of Rogersville High School.Mr. Ross was employed as an auto mechanic with Columbia Gas System in Salem, Ohio for 26 years prior to retiring in 1979 and was a member of the former Quarter Century Club of Columbia Gas.He was a member of the Columbiana Boat and Ski Club in Salem, Ohio and enjoyed fishing and camping in Ohio and Florida and returned to Greene County for several years in the summer months as long as his health permitted.On June 8, 1940 he married Wilda McCracken who survives.Also surviving are a son, Raymond (Cookie) and his wife, Wanda Hayes Ross of Eustis, Florida; a daughter, Bonnie McMahon of Salem, Ohio; four grandchildren, Raymond Ross II, Robert Ross, Kim McMahon Baxter and Justin McMahon; eight great grandchildren, Joshua, Jaime, Brandon, Robyn and Margaret Ross, Amanda, McKenzie and Joey Baxter; one cousin, Lucille Ross Hennen of Waynesburg, Pa..Deceased is a sister, Jeannette Ross.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
