Rex E. Rohm, 78, of Wind Ridge, Pa. died at 4:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa., after being in failing health for the past four years.He was born October 25, 1933 in Richhill Twp. Greene Co. Pa. a son of the late David and Bessie Katherine Ward Rohm and has been a resident of the Wind Ridge area for the past 50 years.Mr. Rohm was a member and former deacon of the Harmony Presbyterian Church in Wind Ridge and attended the former Richhill High School in Wind Ridge.He joined the Richhill Twp. V.F.D. in 1962 where he served as the Fire Chief for 25 years, and had served as EMS coordinator and building inspector in Richhill Twp. for several years.Mr. Rohm was employed by the former Pittsburgh Pipe Cleaners and the former Marx Toy Factory in Glen Dale, W.Va. prior to being employed as a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 66 for approximately 30 years prior to retiring in 1995.He enjoyed hunting, and volunteered for any and all activities involving the fire department.On June 27, 1953 he married Dixie Catherine Smalley who survives.Also surviving are his children, Rickie Eugene Rohm of Wind Ridge, Richard, husband of Kathy Rohm of Dallas, W.Va., Greg Rohm of Cameron, W.Va., Kimberly Rohm of Wind Ridge and Donald Rohm of Holbrook; eight grandchildren, Randy, husband of Heather Rohm, Jason, husband of Krissy Rohm, Connie, wife of Jake Bloom, Brandon Dorsey, Marlena, wife of Joe Mlodzik, Samantha and Shanna Rohm, Tara McCracken; six great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to his parents are a daughter in law, Carol Elizabeth Browell Rohm; a brother, William Rohm and a sister, Wanda Varner.The Richhill Twp. V.F.D will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Sunday. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Richhill Twp. V.F.D., PO Box l, Wind Ridge, Pa. 15380 or the Harmony Presbyterian Church, Wind Ridge, Pa. 15380.
