Rebecca Grove

Rebecca Haught Grove, 88, of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Rogersville, died at 12:20 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 in the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg after being in failing health for the past several years.She was born April 22, 1924 in Brave, Pa. a daughter of the late Freeman Harry and Ella White Haught and had resided in Rogersville from 1947 until moving to Waynesburg in 1998.Mrs. Grove was a member of the former Rogersville Christian Church.She was also a member of the Martha V. Paul Chapter 404, Order of the Eastern Star, of Washington, which accepted the members of the former O.E.S. Chapter 135 of Waynesburg at its closing.Mrs. Grove was a 1943 graduate of the former Waynesburg High SchoolShe was employed as a waitress by the former Star Restaurant in Waynesburg and was last employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Rogersville as a clerk and had served as the Post Mistress there from 1977 until retiring in 1987, with a total of 26 years service.Mrs. Grove was a member of the Post Masters Association in Greene and Washington County, and had served as a director of the Greene County branch.She was a volunteer at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital and Meals-on-Wheels in Waynesburg.On November 13, 1944 she married John Earl "Nick" Grove who died June 27, 1998.Surviving are two daughters, Sue, wife of Bruce Welling of Hamilton, Ohio and Cathy, wife of Larry Hoskins of Poca, W.Va.; a son, James H., husband of Betty Grove of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, John and David Welling, Jason and Derek Grove, Becky Lahew and Emily Hoskins; a great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Carter; a brother, John W., husband of Sarah Haught of Sewickley.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a brother, Gerald W. Haught who died in 1996.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15222.Washington Chapter 404, O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Sunday.
