Phyllis Leonard

Phyllis D. Leonard, 75, of Waynesburg and formerly of Chalk Hill, Pa. died at 7:35 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2006 in Waynesburg, Pa.She was born May 25, 1931 in Keyser, W.Va. a daughter of Milton Ray and Edith Irene Dayton Sampson and had resided in the Beaver Falls area prior to moving to Chalk Hill where she resided for approximately 40 years prior to moving to Greene County in 2004.Mrs. Leonard was a 1949 graduate of Ft. Ashby (W.Va.) High School.She was last employed as a school bus driver by Livengood Bus Lines in the Uniontown School District prior to retiring in 1989.Mrs. Leonard enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and time spent with grandsons as long as her health permitted.On July 17, 1959 she married Alvin Ray Leonard who died January 28, 1989.Surviving are her daughter, Edith I., wife of Walter R. "Bud" Young of Center Twp., two grandsons, Jacob C. and Walter R. Young, Jr.; four sisters, Carolyn "June" Orndorff of Springfield, W.Va., Colleen "Sis" Sites of Cumberland, Md., Dorothy Shaw of Freemont, Oh. and Barbara, wife of Jerry Webb of Mineral, Va.; two brothers, William, husband of Delores Sampson of Ft. Ashby, W.Va. and Robert Sampson of Ridgeley, W.Va.; one sister in law, Ruth, widow of Jack Sampson of Dade City, Fl.; several nieces and nephews. Deceased is her brother, Oliver "Jack" Sampson.The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Eva K Bowlby Public Library, 311 N. West Street, Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
