Pauline T. Strope, 90, of Center Twp. (Oak Forest), Greene Co. Pa. died Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center (Waynesburg) emergency room.She was born October 18, 1920 in Franklin Twp. (West Waynesburg), Pa. a daughter of the late John Batchley and Gail Gertrude Wendell Tharp and had resided in Center Twp. most of her life.Mrs. Strope was a member of the former Oak Forest Methodist Church and had attended the Rogersville Christian Church and had been attending the First Church of the Nazarene in Waynesburg as long as health permitted.She was a member of the Waynesburg V.F.W. Post 4793 auxiliary, the Waynesburg Senior Citizens and the Senior Bowling League where she was an active participant with the Lollypop bowling team.Mrs. Strope also enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles and was a graduate of Center Twp. High School.She was last employed by the former Berkowitz Sewing Factory and the Flushing Shirt Factory for 30 years prior to her retirement.On November 24, 1941 she married Charles Lloyd (Jake) Strope who died March 25, 1984, and her companion and best friend of the past 20 years has been Ray Davis, Jr.Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Huff Cooper of Pikeville, NC and Jane, wife Clyde Sandidge of Simpsonville, SC.; a son, Robert L., husband of Helen Strope of Rogersville; six grandchildren, Rhonda Huff Williams, Kevin Huff, Charles, Rob (Bubby) and twins Bill and Blake Strope; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Lou, wife of Clyde Bedilion of Graysville, Nellie Durbin of Center Twp., Shirley, wife of Hal Justice of Stow, Ohio and Carolyn, wife of Cy Davenport of Waynesburg (Eastview); several nieces and nephews.Mrs. Strope also leaves behind her companion and best friend of the past 20 years, Ray Davis, Jr.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a granddaughter, Debra Lynn Sandidge; five brothers, Jack, Kenneth, Carl, John and Fred Tharp.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Sara Care (Hospice).
