Paul Eugene Horr

Paul E. Horr, 86, of Holbrook, Pa. died at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 in the home of his son Timothy Horr after being in failing health for the past year.
He was born January 5, 1929 in West Finley, Pa. a son of the late Henry Glenn and Helen Margaret Mahan Horr and had resided in Center Twp. since 1961.
Mr. Horr was a member of the former Holbrook Christian Church.
He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served with the U.S. Army as a sergeant with Co B, 317th Tank Battalion, and earned the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars and a sharpshooter medal.
Mr. Horr was a self-employed dairy farmer in Center Twp. for several years, co-owner with his late wife of the former Horrs Feed Service and from 1984 until retiring in 1996 he and his wife owned and operated Horrs Tire Shop and Snack Bar in Rogersville.
He was a self-employed farmer all his life as long as his health permitted and enjoyed raising beef cattle after selling the dairy, was an employee of the former Shumaker Construction Company and was also an independent truck driver following his military service.
Mr. Horr also enjoyed trail riding and covered-wagon events using his Halflinger horses and was a member of the Tri-State Equine Social Club, and enjoyed country music and square dancing.
He was first married to Ethel Clark who died in 1953 and on October 6, 1962 he married Martha Jane Inghram who died September 6, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, Mark A., husband of Nancy Horr and Timothy, husband of Dawn Horr both of Holbrook; five grandchildren, Jennifer Rice, Taylor, Skyler, Adam and Katie Horr; a great grandson, Corbin Rice; three brothers, Thomas, husband of Linda Horr of St. Helens, MI., W. Laverne, husband of Rosella Horr of Freedom and George, husband of Janet Horr of Masontown; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents and wives are two grandsons, Connor Horr who died in infancy and Christopher Horr who died in 2011; a brother, Harold Horr; a sister, Karen Young.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 with Rev. Vernon K. Berdine officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by representatives of the U.S. Army and the Waynesburg American Legion Post 330. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Center Twp. V.F.D. or the Tri-State Equine Social Club.
