Patricia Ann "Patty" Ashcraft

Patricia A. Patty Ashcraft, 52, of New Freeport, Pa. died Sunday, March 1, 2015 in her home at 1:00 a.m. of a cancer related illness diagnosed in October.

She was born August 20, 1962 in Glen Dale, W.Va. a daughter of the late Thomas Ray and Georgia Helen Cain Coss and had resided in the New Freeport area all her life.

Mrs. Ashcraft was a 1980 graduate of West Greene High School and earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from the former Waynesburg College.

She was a six year veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve where she served as an E-5 with the 630th Transportation Company in Washington.

Mrs. Ashcraft had been employed as a custodian by the West Greene School District for the past 19 years and has held the position of head custodian at the Springhill-Freeport Elementary School for the past several years.

She enjoyed reading and quilting.

Mrs. Ashcraft was a member and current president of the New Freeport V.F.D. Ladies Auxiliary, a member and current president of the West Greene Educational Support Professional Association, and was currently serving as the Freeport Twp. Auditor and serving on the Freeport Twp. election board, and was also a member of the Waynesburg American Legion Post 330.

She was a fourteen year participant in the Greene County Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Surviving are two sons, Phillip Ray, husband of Jennifer Coss of Lisenring, Pa. and Robert Lynn Ashcraft, and his fiance Katy Preston of New Freeport; three grandchildren, Gwendolyn Rhiannon and Nathaniel Conor Coss and Conner William Lightner; two brothers, Thomas R. Coss, Jr., husband of Mary Ellen Coss and Joseph L., husband of Kathy Coss both of New Freeport; a sister, Tamara K. Coss of New Freeport; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; a great great niece.

Deceased in addition to her parents is a daughter, Angel Ashcraft who died at birth.

Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in the Coss Family Cemetery, Freeport Twp., with Evangelist Sam Crawford officiating. Graveside military rites will be accorded by representatives of the U. S. Army and the Waynesburg American Legion Post 330. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the West Greene School District Library.
