Biography
Norma Stockdale, 87, of Center Twp., Greene Co., Pa., died at 4:25 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2014 in her home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer for the past three years. She was born November 16, 1926 in Oak Forest (Center Twp.), a daughter of the late Russell Albert and Bessie Marie Orndoff Huffman and had resided in the Oak Forest and Rogersville areas all her life. Mrs. Stockdale was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the Ladies of the Church and was an active volunteer with the monthly community dinners at the church as long as her health permitted. She worked in the cafeteria of West Greene High School prior to retiring from the former Carol Lee Shop as a salesperson for 25 years. Mrs. Stockdale was a member of the Center Twp. V.F.D Auxiliary, the West Greene Senior Citizens, Harvey's - Aleppo Grange 1444 and a former member of the Moose Lodge #461 in Waynesburg, Pa. She enjoyed riding four wheelers, hunting, and bowling as long as her health permitted it. On January 19, 1943 she married Harold Melvin Stockdale who died on January 2, 2014. She was the last of her immediate family. Surviving are two daughters, Marietta (Met), wife of Worthy Fox, and P. Darlene, wife of Kevin Moore, both of Rogersville; two sons, Gary, husband of Carol Stockdale, and Larry Stockdale both of Rogersville; eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a son and daughter, Jeffry Jay and Sue Ella Stockdale, both who died in infancy; and two sisters, Pearl Katchmark and Iva Henderson. At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing or funeral services. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Rogersville United Methodist Church, PO Box 353, Rogersville, Pa., 15359.
