Miller M. "Mid" Fordyce, 81, of Carmichaels, Pa. died at 6:36 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006 in the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home after being seriously ill for the past five weeks.He was born December 24, 1924 in Whitely Twp., Greene Co., Pa. a son of Joseph Mundal and Rebecca Rice Fordyce and had resided in Greene County all of his life.Mr. Fordyce was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served with the U.S. Army as a PFC with Btry B, 41st FA Bn. He was a former member of the Cumberland American Legion Post #400 in Carmichaels and a former member of the Waynesburg Moose.Mr. Fordyce enjoyed auto mechanics.He was a former farm helper in the Clarksville area and was an employee of the former veneer plant in Jefferson and was a former co-owner of R M Auto Sales in Dry Tavern for 12 years. Mr. Fordyce was last employed as a welder by American Bridge Works in Ambridge, Pa. prior to retiring in 1967. On April 21, 1951, he married Dorothy Tressa Gilmer who survives.Also surviving are one son, Melvin Miller "Butch", husband of Carolyn Fordyce of Channahn, IL.; one daughter, Beverly J., wife of Gary Graham of Oak Forest; one sister, Josephine Kerns of Warren, Oh.; one grandson, Michael E. Shuman; two great grandchildren, Jenna Shuman and Gavin Shuman; several nieces and nephews.Deceased are one son, Howard Joseph "Bud" Fordyce; five brothers, Minor, George, Hartford, Andrew "Dick" and Joseph Fordyce; four sisters, Flora Herrod, Mary Pyles, Margaret Callahan and Olive Fox, and one sister and one brother who both died in infancy.
