Michael A. Wood, Sr.

Michael A. Wood, Sr., age 77, of Holbrook passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 21, 1944, in Akron, OH, the son of the late Roy and Virginia (Ryan) Wood of Akron, OH.

Michael served in the US Navy during the Cuban Crisis. On June 16, 1962, he married Mona (Puchi) Wood and they were married 58 years. Michael was a truck driver for Ken Air for 15 years until he retired in 2004. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, farming, and wood working in his spare time.

Michael is survived by his wife, and four children, Mike Wood of Holbrook, PA, Allen (Johna) Wood of Hill Station, PA, Joe Wood of Uniontown, PA, and Jessie (Diane) Wood of Holbrook, PA, and nephew David Barsody of Waynesburg, PA; ten grandchildren, Ronnie Wood, Brandon Wood, Becky Wood, Jessie Wood, Jr., Alex Wood, John Allen Davis (Wood), Allison Wood, Stacie Wood, Lyndsey Wood, and many great grandchildren; one sister, Sue Barsody of Waynesburg, PA and one brother, Fred (Donna) Spicer of Canonsburg, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Al Wood and Laurrie Spicer, one grandson Forrest Wood.

Friends will be received on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 12-2 p.m. Full military honors will be conducted by active-duty United States Navy and Greene County Honor Guard at 2 p.m. at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181. There will be an additional visitation at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following the visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Linda Mankey, officiating.
