Obituary for Mary Stewart
Mary McClelland Stewart, 83, of Ooltewah, Tenn., formerly of Holbrook, died Thursday, June 2, 2005, in Alexian Health Care Center in Signal Mountain, Tenn., after being in failing health since suffering a stroke in 1995. Mrs. Stewart was born March 20, 1922 in Graysville, Pa. a daughter of Ralph Leroy McClelland, Sr. and Evelyn Welling McClelland and had dual residency between Golden Gate, Fl and Pa from 1974 until retiring to Holbrook in 1993. There she made her home with her daughter until moving to Tenn. in 1998, where she made her home with her grandson, Jeffrey A. Alger.She was a member of the Holbrook Christian Church and 1940 graduate of Richhill Twp. High School, and later graduated from the James Lorenzo Vocational School in Naples, Fl. with secretarial / bookkeeping training.Mrs. Stewart was an employee of K-Mart and was last employed by Circle K, both in Naples, Fl. prior to retiring in 1993. She enjoyed spending time with neighbors and friends, traveling, deer hunting, crocheting, gardening, animals of all kinds and attending public auctions. On June 5, 1942, she married James Clarence "Cutner" Stewart who died in 1974 and in 1975, she married Ralph E. "Shorty" Ullom who died in 1980.Surviving are one daughter, Rosalie A. Alger of Holbrook, R.D.#1; two sons, Blair L., husband of Sue Day Stewart of Graysville, R.D. #1 and James W. Stewart of Duluth, Mn; two sisters, Davidine Thompkins of Canonsburg, and Johnette, wife of Armin Ray "Bill" Price of Graysville; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her husbands are one brother, Ralph L. McClelland, Jr.; two sisters, Kitty Sue McClelland who died in infancy and Brooks Taylor.
