Martha D. Bissett, 82, of Morgantown, W.VA. and formerly of Graysville, Pa. died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2004 in her home after being seriously ill for the past month.She was born December 4, 1921 in Graysville, Pa. a daughter of Stephen Edward and Zelma Leona Wells Mitchell.Mrs. Bissett had resided in the Waynesburg and Washington, Pa. areas for several years prior to returning to Graysville in 1978 where she resided until moving to Morgantown in 1997.She was a former member of the Unity Presbyterian Church in Graysville where she formerly served as an elder and Sunday school teacher, and was a member and past president of the church auxiliary and was a current member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Morgantown.Mrs. Bissett was also a member of the Graysville V.F.D. auxiliary and was a former member of the Washington B. P. W.She was a 1940 graduate of Richhill High School, a graduate of Penn Commercial Business College in 1941 and attended Waynesburg College.Mrs. Bissett was formerly employed as secretary by the U. S. Navy Dept. in Washington D.C., and was also a former secretary at Waynesburg College for several years, and a former secretary for the pastors at the Church of the Covenant in Washington and was last employed as the secretary for Gray Township for 8 years prior to retiring in 1986.On July 6, 1943 she married Clifford Wayne Bissett who survives.Also surviving are two daughters, Dolores Carroll of Lone Pine and Denise McCauley of Morgantown, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Amy Smith of Rogersville, Pa.Deceased in addition to her parents are a brother, Edward Laverne Mitchell; a grandson, David Wayne Smith.Mrs. Bissett was the last of her immediate family.
