Marjorie L. Sloane, 98, of Claysville, Pa. died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in the Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Twp.
She was born October 2, 1916 in East Finley Twp. a daughter of the late Norton and Mary Enlow Montgomery and had resided in Claysville since 1953.
Mrs. Sloane was a member of the Claysville United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women as long as her health permitted.
She was a co-host of the sewing group for the American Cancer Society in Washington for many years and a former member of the Claysville Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Sloane was a 50 year member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 187 in Claysville.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and was the bookkeeper for her late husband and his construction business.
On May 3, 1934 she married William James Pete Sloane who died April 27, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Glenda, wife of Tom Davis of Fairbanks, Alaska and Lorraine Puida of Safety Harbor, Fl.; two sons, James R., husband of Carol Ann Sloane of Claysville and (Col. Ret.) William N., husband of Hazel Sloane of Chesterfield, Va.; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a grandchild; four brothers, Russell, Carroll, Ray and Nort Montgomery; two sisters, Elizabeth Bird and Helen May.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Claysville United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 with Rev. Rico Vespa officiating. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa.
