Marjorie L. Sprowls Hancher, 91, of Washington and formerly of Claysville, Pa. died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2007 in the Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington, Pa. She was born April 9, 1915 in Graysville, Pa. a daughter of Joseph Throckmorton Walker and Rachel Beabout Walker Ward and had resided in Claysville for over 60 years until moving to Washington in June 2001. Mrs. Hancher was a former employee of Dr. Fred Large, Dr. William Prideaux, Dr. Coony Barr and Jack Hughes, Attorney at law. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 639 of Claysville for over 40 years and enjoyed playing bingo.Mrs. Hancher was first married to the late Wade Clarence Sprowls and on December 9, 1954, she married D.O. Hancher who died on October 6, 1987.Surviving are three sons, Ralph E., husband of Betty Sprowls of Washington, Lloyd W., husband of Judy Sprowls of Claysville and Joseph L., husband of Diane Hancher of Ootelwah, Tenn.; one daughter, Debra Hancher Ely of Washington; one step daughter, Jean Sprowls Scott of Claysville; one brother, Ed Walker of Claysville; ten grandchildren; five step grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.Deceased in addition to her husbands one daughter, Betty Louise Sprowls Moore who died on November 6, 2001; two grandsons, David Wray Sprowls and Christopher J. Hancher; one brother, Earl Lloyd Walker; three sisters, Helen Ludden, Elizabeth Sprowls and Donnice Scott.The family suggests memorial contributions to the Claysville United Methodist Church and the Claysville V.F.D.
