Obituary for Marilyn Niethamer

Marilyn Niethamer, 70, of Holbrook, Pa. and formally of Monroeville Pa., died peacefully at The Donnell House in Washington, Pa. on Sunday, January 20, 2013.She was born on September 4, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pa. a daughter of the late John and Lucille Miller Humble.Marilyn graduated from John McDonogh High School in New Orleans in 1960. She attended Southern Methodist University for three years and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Languages in 1967.Mrs. Niethamer worked as a companion for a disabled girl, as a sales clerk, a TWA Stewardess, a bank teller, a physical education and German teacher in Homestead and Munhall, Pa., owner and operator of Western Hat Post store, real estate agent and broker, a owner and partner in housing and apartment rentals in the Pittsburgh area, and was a stay at home mother.She lived in Sweden and enjoyed traveling to England, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Cuba and later to Israel, Egypt, Mexico, Bahamas and Bermuda. She crossed the Atlantic aboard the SS United States and Cristoforo Colombo.Mrs. Niethamer was very competitive and had lessons and participated in ice skating, ballet, horsemanship, swimming, playing piano, fencing, golf, tennis, bowling, badminton and bridge, where she achieved a rank of Masters. She enjoyed gambling and had two recent trips to the Meadows and Wheeling Casinos.On April 24, 1965 she married Gene Niethamer in Ingamar and he survives in Holbrook.Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters Karin, wife of Rob Brunelle of Virginia Beach, Va., Ann McDewitt of Pitcairn and Janet Niethamer of Pittsburgh; Five grandchildren, Eric, Tanner, Nathan, Regan and Zach; a sister, Linda, wife of Rich Romer of Aberdeen, N.J.The family suggests donations be made to Stanley Marks Endowed Cancer Research Fund Development Center, UMPC Cancer Pavilion Suite 1B, 5150 Center Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15232.
