Marcia Jane (Mart) Thompson, 57, of Wind Ridge, Pa. died at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the WVU Hospital (Ruby), Inc., Morgantown, W.Va. following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 13, 1958 in Waynesburg, Pa. a daughter of the late Myrl Jay and Dorcas Drake Strawn, and had resided in Blacksville, W.Va. prior to moving to Richhill Twp., Greene County, Pa. where she had resided for the past 33 years.
Mrs. Thompson was an employee of the former Lees American and Oriental Restaurant in Cameron for several years prior to purchasing the restaurant in 1998, which she and her family operated as Marts Diner, until closing in 2014 due to ill health.
She enjoyed cooking and helping others her entire life.
On October 27, 1984 she married David Faye Thompson who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Ryan D. Thompson, companion of Jessica Whipkey, of Wind Ridge; two step-sons, D. Douglas Thompson of Fairmont, W.Va. and Destrey Thompson of Wind Ridge; two grandchildren, Bentley and Paige Thompson; a sister, Sheila Strawn of Cameron; her best friend, Brenda Evans of Cameron; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents is a brother, Timothy Wayne Strawn, who died at birth.
At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Family and friends will be invited to attend a memorial graveside service to be held at a date to be announced. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
