Mabel V. Porter, 86, of Claysville, Pa and formerly of West Alexander, Pa., died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the Hixenbaugh's Personal Care Home, Claysville, Pa.She was born October 18, 1927 in Valley Grove, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank R. and Beatrice Elizabeth Westfall Minor, and had resided in West Alexander, Pa., prior to moving to Claysville in 1962.Ms. Porter was a member of the Claysville United Methodist Church.She was a 1945 graduate of the West Alexander High School.Ms. Porter was a former president and 73 year member of the West Alexander American Legion Auxiliary and was a charter member of the Claysville Volunteer Fire Dept.She enjoyed watching softball and baseball games, was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, enjoyed going to the mountains, and enjoyed attending the West Alexander Fair in which she attended for 81 consecutive years.On February 28, 1948 she married Harold B. Porter who died on November 28, 2003.Surviving are three daughters, Mabel Jean Porter of Claysville, Pa., Sandy Rogers and Barb Mounts of Washington, Pa.; two grandchildren, Scott, husband of Beth Mounts of Claysville, Pa., and Patrick Mounts of Washington Pa.; two great grandchildren, Stefanie and Andrew Mounts; and a sister, Ruth Ann Riggans of Avella, Pa.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a sister, Jean Layton; and a brother, Franklin Minor.
