Lorna Gaines

Lorna Kay Leek Gaines, 57, of New Freeport, Pa. died Thursday, April 8, 2004 as a result of injuries received in a fire at her home.She was born March 1, 1947 in Glen Dale, W.Va. a daughter of the late Samuel Grant "Babe" Leek and Betty Lee Coss Leek and had lived most of her married life in the New Freeport area.Mrs. Gaines formerly attended the Bethany United Methodist Church and was a member of the church choir and was currently attending the New Freeport Baptist Church.She was formerly employed by the Little Forest Nursing Home in Akron, Ohio, the Jane Frances Nursing Home in Ravenna, Ohio and was last employed as a van driver for handicapped students in the Ravenna (Ohio) School District.Mrs. Gaines enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and playing with a gameboy and was an avid housekeeper.On December 23, 1962 she married James Albert Gaines who survives.Also surviving are three daughters, Sherri Nulph of Aliquippa, Connie L. Gaines and Alice Hewitt both of Waynesburg; three sons, Mark A. Gaines and Michael P. Gaines both of Core, W.Va. and Matthew "Newt" Gaines of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Sana Rose Sells of New Freeport, Brenda Sue Leek of Orlando, Florida and her twin sister, Sharon Childers of Youngstown, Ohio; one brother, Larry R. Leek of Lancaster, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her parents are two grandchildren, Samantha Lee Sloan and Christopher Elihu Hoag; one brother, Dale Eugene Leek.
