Obituary for Lester Leroy Richardson

Lester L. Richardson, 88, of Holbrook, Pa. died Monday, March 16, 2015 in the home of his daughter Donna Richardson in Quaker City, Ohio.
He was born October 29, 1926 a son of the late Joseph William and Ethel Watson Richardson and had resided in the Pittsburgh area all his life prior to moving to Greene County in 1974.
Mr. Richardson attended the former Macedonia Baptist Church at Bristoria and last attended the Ryerson South Wheeling Baptist Church at Wind Ridge.
He was a veteran of World War II where served as a Seaman First Class with the U.S. Navy and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater an Asiatic Pacific Medals.
Mr. Richardson was a former Deputy Game Warden in Allegheny County for several years and a former member of the Waynesburg Moose Lodge.
He was employed by the former Pa. Transformer prior to transferring to Allis-Charmers Transformer in Pittsburgh in 1947 where he was employed as a Winder for 28 years prior to retiring in 1975.
On December 19, 1959 he married Mae Eleanore Benkart who died August 30, 2010.
Surviving are his children, Nancy Richardson of Port Richey, Fl., David M. Richardson of Pittsburgh, Lester. L. (Roy) Richardson, Jr. of Fairbanks, Alaska, Carol Ann Hurley of Danville, IN., Donna L. Richardson of Quaker City, OH., Doris Jean, wife of Mark Havlichek of New Salem, Pa., Philip, husband of Shelly Richardson and John W. Richardson both of Holbrook, and Media, wife of Paul Bigler of Carlisle; 25 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents and his wife are his step-mother, Stelene Richardson; a brother, Joseph W. Richardson; two sisters, Louella Gieter and Betty C. Ansbach.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at the Ryerson South Wheeling Baptist Church at Wind Ridge on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Eric Kieselbach, whom Mr. and Mrs. Richardson raised, officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Keystone Paralyzed Veterans (www.kpva.org). Military rites will be accorded at the church by representatives of the U.S. Navy and the Waynesburg American Legion Post 330.
