Leota V. McCracken, 85, of West Alexander, Pa., died at 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling, W. Va.She was born December 30, 1923 in West Finley Township, Washington County, Pa., a daughter of the late Thomas Lewtellus and Maud (Kennedy) Dougherty.Mrs. McCracken was a lifelong member of the West Alexander United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher.She was last employed on the cleaning crew at Olgebay Park in Wheeling and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 656 in West Alexander.Mrs. McCracken enjoyed quilting and baking rolls and bread for her community.On April 28, 1951, she married John Marshall McCracken, who died November 15, 1996.Surviving are two sons, John R. McCracken of West Alexander and Donald F. McCracken of Apache Junction, Ariz; four grandchildren, Jake McCracken, Izumi McCracken, Dean Marshall McCracken and Carole Lynn McCracken Myayge; a step grandson, Jason and two great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a brother, J. Thomas Dougherty.Mrs. McCracken was the last was the last of her immediate family.
